The Pocono Mountains Premier Haunted House
The Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares are both indoor, walk through Haunted House attractions featuring live actors and paranormal activity housed in the over 200-year old “abandoned” Pocono Mountain resort once called The Lake House Hotel, Saylorsburg, Pa. We’re open rain or shine throughout the haunted season with a covered wait line and free parking. Don’t let the weather scare you. That’s our job! The Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares Halloween Attractions are two separate themed haunted houses, with both housed inside the legendary Lake House Hotel intertwined and breathing next to one another, sharing organs and a circulatory system like conjoined twins. The sinister subconscious of the Hotel of Horror feeds off the dark energy that stains the lumber skeleton of this once pristine mountain resort, while Altered Nightmares celebrates the chaos that grows stronger as each soul travels through its decaying halls and abandoned rooms.
2025 Event Dates
Hotel of Horror is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Night-Late September through early November.

• We are open rain or shine with a covered wait.
• We always have free parking.
• If purchasing tickets online please enter first attraction an hour before stated closing time.
•Based on audience volume, tickets may be available at box office later than scheduled times and attractions stays open until last victim is served.
• Timed Ticketing is for structuring arrival – entrance times may vary- Please arrive 15 minutes before ticket time. Timed tickets do not eliminate attraction wait lines.
The Hotel of Horror has been engrossing and horrifying both the unsuspecting and devoted fans for decades with its eclectic ensemble of ghouls (live actors) and ghosts (paranormal activity).
Altered Nightmares is a psychological trip memorializing chaos and mayhem. Diving deep into your mind and exploring with imagination and angst. Welcome to a world where the inmates run the asylum.
Our horror story began all the way back in the late 1700’s when our property was much smaller- a stagecoach stop for wayward travelers passing through on horseback. That stagecoach stop was replaced with a modernized and elegant Victorian era mansion, with accommodations for both tourists and proprietors of the establishment. As the railroad flourished in the later 1800’s a massive edition was built to accommodate the more worldly travelers. It is this monumental structure that you will visit today for our Halloween celebration. And it is the centuries long history- often dreadful and ghastly that sets the stage for our frightful production.

From Route 80
Take Route 33 South to Saylorsburg exit. Turn right onto PA-115 then right onto Cherry Valley Road. Hotel is on left.
From Route 22 & 78
Take Route 33 North to Saylorsburg exit. Turn right on to Cherry Valley Road. Hotel is on right.
