Before you reserve your place in line- review the essentials: weather, policies, location, details, age recommendations, discounts, payment options, and what kind of night waits beyond the front door.
Hotel of Horror is an indoor haunted attraction, and we run the full production even when it rains. We have also prepared portions of our outdoor areas to help protect guests from wet weather.
Our covered waiting line helps keep guests more comfortable during rain, you will be under tent coverage and inside the indoor queue before entering the attractions. A large rollout awning also covers the box office windows on nights that it rains-to provide shelter during ticket check-in.
Realistically, you may still be exposed to some rain while walking from your vehicle to the box office, as well as during any overflow queue line that may form on peak nights. We recommend dressing for the weather and wearing shoes suitable for wet ground.
Umbrellas are permitted for the walk from your vehicle to the box office, but they are not permitted inside the attractions. Guests using an umbrella may leave it with the box office staff, and retrieve it before departing for the evening.
Saylorsburg is a small rural community in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on the western edge of the Pocono Mountains. Hotel of Horror is located in Saylorsburg, just off of PA Route 33 and within easy driving distance of the Lehigh Valley, Stroudsburg, the Delaware Water Gap, much of Northeastern Pennsylvania, as well as North Jersey.
Saylorsburg is not the resort-town version of the Poconos. Saylorsburg is quieter, older, darker, and surrounded by country roads, woods, and the kind of landscape that makes an abandoned hotel feel entirely authentic after sunset.

Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares are recommended for guests ages 13 and older. Our attractions are designed to be intense, with amplified scares, mature themes, dark environments, loud sounds, and disturbing visual effects.
Every guest is different, and parents and guardians know their child best. Some younger guests enjoy the experience, while some adults decide it is not for them. Please use your best judgement before purchasing tickets.
We have seen fearless young guests high- five monsters- and grown adults discover they may have been talked into coming to the haunted house.
Hotel of Horror is a no touch haunted attraction. Our performers do not grab guests, pull anyone away from their group, or intentionally make physical contact as part of the experience.
Because the attractions include live performances in shared spaces, narrow hallways, dark passageways, and moving crowds, there may occasionally be incidental contact. A performer may brush past you, bump shoulders, or pass closely beside you while moving through the scenes.
That is very different from a hands-on Haunt. You will not be separated from your group, restrained, carried away, or intentionally handled by our actors.
The Hotel of Horror does not offer traditional printed or produced coupons, but there are several ways guests may save throughout the fall season.
Early season dates are typically offered at lower ticket prices while select later season Sundays may feature special Sunday savings pricing. Hotel of Horror also offers eligible discounts for military members, police, and fire department personnel, along with group rates for qualifying parties.
Available discounts, eligible dates, and ticket prices may very during the season. Please review the current ticket options and calendar before purchasing, as some discounts may require specific ticket types, identification, advance purchase, or minimum group sizes.
Buying at the box office can help you avoid some online ticketing fees, please note that in-person ticket purchases are cash only.

Hotel of Horror is grateful for those who serve our country and our communities. Members of our Cast and Crew, both current and former have served in military, law-enforcement, fire, and emergency service roles, and many of us also have family members and friends who do the same.
As a small thank- you, eligible military personnel, police officers, and firefighters receive five dollars off their own admission ticket when valid work or service identification is presented in person at the box office. Please note that in-person ticket purchases are cash only- but you will save on the services fees associated with our ticket agent as well.
This discount applies to the person of service only and may not be combined with other offers unless otherwise noted. Please bring your ID with you on the night of your visit.
Online tickets for Hotel of Horror may be purchased through our ticketing provider, using all major credit cards and accepted electronic payment methods available at checkout.
The on-site box office is cash only. An ATM is available on the property for guests who need to withdraw cash before purchasing walk up tickets or other cash only transactions.

A little bit of preparation keeps your visit from becoming true chaos. Find answers about when to arrive, what parking is like, what to wear, what to leave at home, and the details worth knowing before you travel to the hotel.
The Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares haunted houses exist inside the legendary Lake House Hotel in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. The Lake House Hotel is an authentic Victorian era former mountain resort in the Poconos with a long past, strange stories, and an atmosphere that seems to grow heavier after nightfall. While we cannot promise that every sound, shadow, or unexplained feeling is Paranormal, many guests, staff members, and paranormal investigators have left with stories of their own.
Some visitors come for the haunted attraction. Others come because they are curious about the building itself. Either way, you may find that the hotel has a few surprises that were not planned parts of the show.
Our spirits, however, do not always follow our script.
Online ticketed guests should plan to arrive approximately 15-30 minutes before their timed ticket entry at Hotel of Horror. This allows time for parking, ticket scanning, restroom visits, and getting settled before entering the queue line.
Your ticket time is your arrival window, not necessarily the exact moment you enter the attraction. During busy peak weekends, there may be a wait after check-in as groups are spaced for the best possible experience.
Walk-up guests planning to purchase tickets at the door should know that the earlier in the evening they arrive gives them the best chance at a shorter wait line. Lines do tend to fill as daylight fades and the darkness settles over Saylorsburg.
Arriving early helps keep your night from becoming more stressful than spooky.
ALL GUESTS need to check into the box office before heading into attractions. Your online ticket confirmation must be validated at the box office to receive your attraction tickets.
Hotel of Horror offers free on site parking for guests attending the attraction. Parking attendants will direct you when you arrive, so please follow any posted signs and the staff instructions as you enter the property. Parking areas may be grass, gravel, or uneven ground, depending on the area of the lot and weather conditions. We recommend wearing sensible shoes and allowing a little extra time to walk from your vehicle to the box office.
On peak nights, parking can take a few extra minutes as guests arrive. Arriving 15 to 30 minutes before your ticket time helps give you time to park, check-in, and make your way toward the queue line.
The Hotel of Horror is open on select public production nights throughout the fall season. On most production nights, the parking lot opens first- approximately one hour before showtime. The box office typically opens 30 minutes to one hour before showtime, depending on the evening.
The queue line and attraction entrance generally open at the listed production start time.
Production dates and opening times vary by night, so guests should always review the current season CALENDAR before traveling to SAYLORSBURG.
The posted closing time for Hotel of Horror is not a guarantee that new guests may arrive at that exact time and still enter the attraction. Guests should plan to be on property, have tickets purchased, and be in the queue line approximately one hour before the listed closing time.
On especially busy production nights, Hotel of Horror may remain open later than the posted closing time so that all guests already in line can complete their experience. However, late arrival and walk up ticket availability cannot be guaranteed.
For the best experience and the least stressful arrival, we recommend choosing an earlier timed ticket whenever possible.
Hotel of Horror is an indoor haunted attraction, with some time spent outside. Guests should dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking parking areas, queue lines, and parts of the experience may include grass, gravel, uneven ground, stairs, or outdoor pathways.
We recommend clothing layers for cool fall evenings in Pennsylvania and closed toed shoes whenever possible. Please avoid loose, ill- fitting clothing, long- trailing costumes, high heels, or anything that can make it difficult to move freely through dark or uneven areas.
We may be a former grand Victorian era mountain hotel, but you do not need to dress up to enjoy the experience- just come prepared for the weather, the walk, and whatever may be waiting inside.
Yes. Costumes are permitted at the Hotel of Horror, provided they do not restrict your ability to move freely through the attractions. Guests should be able to walk comfortably through dark areas, stairs, uneven ground, queue lines, and the full haunted attraction experiences.
Full face masks and any mask that obstructs your vision or identity are not permitted. Medical masks are permitted.
Please also avoid costumes with long trailing fabric, oversized pieces, sharp accessories, or anything that may interfere with your movement or the movement of other guests or haunters.
Hotel of Horror staff reserves the right to make the final determination.
Halloween masks are not allowed as part of a guest costume, they interfere with a guests' ability to see, breathe, communicate, or move with ease through the attraction.
Because Hotel of Horror includes dark passageways, stairs, uneven surfaces, queue lines, and close proximity to other guests and Haunters, all visitors must keep a clear unobstructed view while inside the attractions and on property.
Medical masks are permitted. Decorative face make up, and costume accessories may also be worn as long as they do not block vision, identity, or create a concern.
Guests may be asked to remove or adjust any headpiece, prop, or costume item that interferes with their experience or the experience of others.
Hotel of Horror staff reserves the right to make the final determination.
When You Arrive
Check In at Your Own Risk
You've made it to the property. Find answers about parking, check-in, restrooms, photos, group size, the queue line, and what happens once you cross into the other world of Hotel of Horror.
Free guest parking is available on our property, directly beside the hotel. Enter through the main parking-lot entrance off Cherry Valley Road; the hotel will be on your left upon entering. Please look for and follow any and all signs and staff instructions.
Parking attendants are on site to help guide guests through the lot and assist with finding a space. Parking may be on grass, gravel, or uneven ground, depending on the area of the lot and weather conditions. Please allow extra time for parking, walking to the box office, and checking in.
On busy October nights, parking attendants may direct guests into overflow areas as needed. Please do not park along nearby roads, driveways, or areas not designated for Hotel of Horror guests.
After parking, please head to the box office to check in. ALL GUESTS MUST visit the box office, including guests who purchased tickets online. Your online ticket confirmation is exchanged at the box office for your attraction tickets.
From the parking lot, look toward the hotel for the gigantic tree growing from the graveyard garden. Follow the pathway through the garden to the box office queue. The windows are brightly lit, with a large TICKETS banner mounted above them.
After you check in at the box office- head to the queue line just to the right of the box office windows.
The exact queue path may change based on crowd levels. On slower nights, guests may enter through the indoor queue; on busier nights, the line may extend into the outdoor queue areas.
Follow posted directional signs and staff guidance as you make your way toward the ATTRACTIONS.
Yes. Portable restrooms are available on site for Hotel of Horror guests.
We strongly recommend using the restrooms before entering the attractions. Once your group begins the experience, there is no convenient bathroom break- and some guests discover they should have gone before meeting what waits inside.
Adult diapers are also available for purchase at the box office for anyone who prefers a little extra peace of mind.
Guests are welcome to take photos and video in the outdoor areas and queue line at Hotel of Horror. Feel free to capture your group, costumes, the property, and the anticipation before you enter.
Photography and video recording are not permitted inside the attractions. This protects the guests and performers, avoids disruptions in dark spaces, and helps preserve the surprises for everyone entering behind you.
Please be considerate, while filming or taking pictures in the permitted areas and do not block walkways, queue lines, staff, or other guests.
Hotel of Horror is designed for groups of four guests or fewer for the most complete and immersive experience inside the haunted houses. Groups of up to six or seven guests may enter together with limited effect on the experience.
Larger groups are strongly, encouraged to split into smaller parties. When too many guests move through a scene at once, people at the front, back, or both ends of the group may miss scares, performances, and details intended for them. Please do not stop in hallways or wait inside the attraction for another portion of your group to catch up, as this can disrupt your own experience as well as the experience of guests behind and around you.
Smaller groups usually get the better night.
If you decide that you do not want to continue, tell the actor or cast member in the room with you that you want to leave the attraction. They may briefly break character to confirm that you are sure you would like to leave.
Once confirmed a member of the Hotel Of Horror cast or crew will escort you out of the attraction as safely and quickly as possible.
Please understand that guests who exit early may not re-enter the attraction and tickets are not refundable.
The Line Jumper Fast Pass is an optional upgrade that can reduce your wait time or allow you to bypass part of the general-admission line.
Line Jumper Fast Pass upgrades are available at the box office only and are offered when wait lines make the upgrade worth while. We do not sell unnecessary upgrades when the line is already moving quickly.
Yes. Guests who purchased general-admission combo tickets online may ask about upgrading to Line Jumper Fast Passes at the box office.
Fast Pass upgrades are offered based on current wait times. When you arrive, our staff can let you know whether an upgrade would be worth while.

The Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares Haunted Houses are open to the public from late September through early November on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. We are also open on Halloween Night, October 31st- no matter what day of the week it falls on.

Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares are two separate walk-through haunted house experiences, each with its own setting, characters, scares, and storylines. Both attractions feature live actors, theatrical, lighting, intense sound, detailed sets, and unsettling, paranormal activity- but they are not the same experience repeated twice.
Hotel of Horror takes guests inside the hotel, where the buildings age, atmosphere, and dark history become part of the Haunt.
Altered Nightmares leads guests into a different world of fear, with its own twisted environments, creatures, and disturbing encounters.

Each year we refresh and expand the experience with new storylines, themes, rooms, characters, scenes, and additions to our carefully curated collections. Some familiar elements may remain, but there is always something new to discover, fear, or look twice at inside the Hotel of Horror.
Returning guests can expect the haunted houses to feel familiar in spirit, but never exactly the same.
Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares are both longer-than-average haunted houses.
Hotel of Horror typically takes 25-30 minutes, while Altered Nightmares typically takes 20-25 minutes. Together, your general admission combo TICKETS include roughly an hour of walkthrough entertainment.
These estimates do not include wait times. Your total visit may vary based on crowd levels, the time of the season, your group's pace, and brief operational resets between attractions.
Hotel of Horror is an independent, family run, haunted attraction- not a corporate chain. That allows us to keep the experience personal, detailed, and driven by the people who build it, the Haunters who perform in it- and return to it year after year.
Our seasonal cast typically includes 50 to 60 actors and crew members, working throughout both HAUNTED HOUSE ATTRACTIONS. rather than relying on a one size fits all formula, our team, brings its own creativity, energy, and personality to every night.
The result is a large immersive production with the heart of a local Haunt: carefully built scenes, dedicated performers, and an experience that feels different from a corporate style haunted house.
Yes. Strobe lighting is used in portions of both Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares.
Because flashing lights may affect guests with photosensitivity, epilepsy, migraines, or certain medical conditions, we recommend the affected guests use caution before entering.
Yes. Fog machines are used in portions of both Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares to create atmosphere and enhance certain scenes.

Absolutely. Halloween is the reason for the season- and our favorite night of the year.
Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares are open on Halloween night, October 31st, regardless of which day of the week it falls on. Check our CALENDAR for that season's hours, ticket availability, and any special Halloween night details.
Halloween night can be a great option for guests looking for a different atmosphere than a typical Saturday night, crowd levels can vary, but often Halloween is NOT considered a "peak night".
On busy nights, Hotel of Horror and Altered Nightmares may continue operating after the posted closing time so that guests who arrive on time can still go through. However we do not recommend arriving close to closing, and we cannot guarantee admission.
For the best experience, guests should plan to be on property, have tickets purchased, and be in line approximately one hour before the listed closing time.
Please check our CALENDAR before your visit for that night posted hours.
Guess who arrived too close to closing may not be admitted, especially if the evenings crowd level does not justify keeping the attractions open later than the posted hours.
If you purchased online tickets with a timed entry slot and arrived too late to be admitted, we will issue a gift certificate that may be used before the end of the current season.
To avoid missing your visit, please arrive during your selected time slot and plan to be on property, checked in, and in-line well before the listed closing time.
Hotel of Horror has a close knit Cast and Crew, and many of our performers return year after year. Because of that, openings can be limited, but we do occasionally add new Haunters to the production.

You may also include any acting, haunted attraction, theater, makeup, costuming, or performance experience, but previous experience is not always required.

No. You no longer need to print your online ticket confirmation supplied by our ticketing platform. You do, however, need to show that ticket confirmation to our box office.
Most modern-day phones are ideal for displaying the QR ticket confirmation that you will receive. If you do not have a phone that can display the ticket confirmation, you may still print them out.
In extreme circumstances, where you cannot locate your QR ticket confirmation, we can locate your information through the ticket platform to confirm your purchase and get you checked in. Please note this takes time and will delay your entrance into the attraction.
When filling out your information with our ticketing platform, please make sure everything is entered correctly, including your name, the spelling of your name and your email address. This will help us look up your information in the system if needed.
Yes. Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more guests, with larger groups receiving larger discount options.
Group visits should be arranged in advance through email or telephone communication. We ask that groups pre-register before arriving so we can confirm the group size, discount details, and the best way to handle ticketing for your visit.
When the group arrives, the group leader should come to the box office to purchase the tickets together in one bulk transaction at the discounted group rate.
